INTI COCHA - PAMPALLACTA (CUSCO)

Season runs from May to December- Suitable for children over 10 years old.

Inti Cocha is one of the 13 lakes that form part of the indigenous Pampallacta community. It is located in the highlands of the Sacred Valley, 2 hours from the imperial city of Cusco and one hour from the town of Urubamba. The local community is very welcoming and this distinctly Andean landscape is truly the most impressive, with all lakes located over 13,500 feet above sea level. In this particular lake, ?shing is very exciting and fun because of the abundance of rainbow trout. The size of trout ranges from 25 to 50 cm (10 to 12 inches) and there is great potential to catch larger trout.

DAY PROGRAM:
Pick up from your accommodations at 7:00 AM and depart Cusco, heading to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will pass through the beautiful, historic town of Pisac, an important archeological site in the Sacred Valley, and continue driving 40 minutes more to our departure point. Upon arrival, we will start a short, easy walk of 20 minutes walk through the mountains to get to the best spot for ?shing.

We will arrive at Inti Cocha lake around 9:00 AM and will immediately assemble all the required equipment. We tailor our ?shing programs to our clients’ requirements, and for this trip we will be ?shing from the shore around the lake looking for trout. You will have the opportunity to ?sh all morning in this stunning environment.

At 12:00 PM we will take a break, have lunch and in the afternoon, we will continue to ?sh around the shore of the lake until 2:30 PM. At 3:00 PM, we will return to Cusco after another journey through the wondrous Sacred Valley of the Incas, arriving around 6:00 PM to your accommodations.

Optional: we can rent horses from the local community for riding access to the lake.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

-We advise you to bring a rain jacket because the climate in the Andes changes frequently throughout the day. Depending on the season, the weather is usually very cold in the early morning but warm and probably sunny and warm at midday. Please bring appropriate clothing for these varying temperatures. It is also advisable to bring sunscreen and insect repellent.

-Please inform our team in advance of any special dietary requirements.

-There is a small hike at 12,000 feet above sea level involved in this trip.

-If you want to bring your own gear:
Fishing equipment recommended for these high Andean lakes is a 5-6 rod and flotation lines because the area is well suited for the use of dry flies. Small nymphs have very good results. You can also fish with small streamers with F / S tip lines for deepening flies Leader and tippet N ° 2-4.
